1 day!

Wow, tomorow I wake up and it'll all be started! But I am glade to say that everything is done. I could die tonight (don't be getting any ideas!) and everything would still work. I am so happy, now we have 4 days to set everything up for the project I work on (the project only starts on the 12th). The office is almost dead, everyone is away getting things ready, and they come in for a 1-2hours to print stuff and send e-mail, but by now every one is getting ready on the field.
It's super exciting!

Little recap of yesterday since I was not able to post :
900 photocopies
200 badgets cut
300 things to laminate
1 smile... priceless (oh come on I had to do a lame mastercard joke)

3 days...

bronze number of days left (hehe get it bronze = 3rd place = 3, wtv I find myself to be quite humorous). We starting moving some stuff around to be ready for the 12th (day that my first event starts) and I confirmed the last few things by e-mail, just need to call a few more poeple make sure everything is still a go and we are set!
Oh and fun fact today we have gumbo for lunch made by are two students from louisianna that want to show off there mad kitchen skills. So every is right pumped for lunch today hehe, but we have no more chairs in the cafetaria so we will have to bring are office chairs hehe.
And I finally got the programmes that I work on for a month, they look super nice, but the ppl that design it put some spelling erreurs that weren't there before, I am not happy about that, oh well such is life.

4 days...

BOOM! 4days till D-Day, and I am extatic, right now if we we're to stop working the whole thing could work, not smoothly, but hey it would work, so thats good! We are smoothing out all the wrinkles and by the end of this week it's going to start and we won't have time to thing of anything, because it's just going to be trown in are faces like an episode of cross-fire (good thing that show is off the air).

chess and track

My first challenge comes from a friend with a Elo rating of 1800 (Thats what is chess account says anyway) and that can run the 800m in 1:52, and a philosophy student, euh who would of tought.
Anyway he challenged me to find a link that ties track and field and chess together, so I accept the challenge!

Titles :
Now see this section more as of a warm-up. Both chess and track and field are administered by international organizations, and both these organizations hold similar tournaments. Example, they both hold a World Championship were you have to qualify with your regional organization beforehand. They both hold invitational meets, and they both hold series of events (such as the Golden league for athletics). They both give out titles such as World Champion, Grandmaster, World medalist.

6 degrees of separation :
Ok now to make a few links between athletics and chess.
1. Andras Andorjan, a Hungarian author and Chess Grandmaster. He was often reviewed by Botvinnick who compared him to Monty python. And we all remember the Monty Python's famous special olympic skit.
2.Simen Agdestien, a Norwegian Grandmaster, this quy was a football (aka soccer) pro, he managed to keep his chess and pro soccer carriers going at the same time. He played for the FC Lyn Oslo, a club that played in the same stadium where such meets as the IAAF world athletics championships have been held!

History :
Both are recognized sports by the international Olympic Commitee, but of course only track is pressented.
The womans event were presented for the first time in 1928 during the Amsterdamn Olympics. During this same time the Chess Olympiades also added a female categorie.

Anyway this is a quick preview of what ties chess and track together. To be honest there was other stuff, but it was even more far fetch then what I presented. I mean aside from a few exceptionnal ppl that did both chess and track, these two things where never suppose to meet! Anyway this gives a little exemple of what I mean when I want ppl to give me suggest for the next themes, so please comment your next challenge. And I will try to satisfy it.

7 Days

one week! 1/52 of a year! 10,080 minutes!

It doesn.'t matter how I try to spin it, the fact reminds, we have a week to get this down. Now I am sure you notice the absence of day 8, well that kinda gives you a glimpse of how crazy it was. Sleeping is becoming my faverite part of the day, because every time of the day spent awake is spent thinking about things I possibly forget. But it's coming along, I don't really need to freak out. No... nope, no freaking out for me... none (this is me trying to convience myself).

Anyway, I will be working late today I think, because I kinda feel like I juste need to completly let go this week-end.

9 days

So yesterday a few of us got on a sail boat and had are selves a nice little trip after work. Meaning, today we are all tired. Meaning that big ''9'' that I see when I walk in my office is that much more stressful. Oh well the work needs to be done so I'll just have to suck it up like every one else.

Some of the installation crew have started work at 6am so that they don't have to work in the warm sun today, yet another exemple of how dedicated the poeple here are.
Now these post will start to look more and more like twits because I have less and less time to be writing them. I am currently on this major curtain hunt.

10 days...

412 pages printed.
103 document folded.
103 letters rubbing up against my tongue.
2 paper cuts.
12 hour work-day.
x number of e-mails sent.

Thats how yesterday summed up for me. Today is looking real good, I had a few phone calls, confirmed a thing or two with the school and city where we will be holding are event, and I am pretty much done. I mean I have time to write a post about it! True I will not be taking a lunch break, but with only tens days to go thats the regular routine around here. But the optimism is great in these parts, so the countdown continues!

Eureka!

Ah... the satisfying feeling of having found what was right in front of you for all this time. Now I am not about to jump out of the public bath and run around naked screaming Eureka! I am still pretty excited. I have discovered a direction for my blog. I am sure this is the feeling parents have when they finally decide in what sport they will force there kid into.

Drum role please.... I will try to find links that will tie for exemple these guys :

too, let's say our favorite Canadian figure skating duo, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier :

Well, I will try to make it harder for myself, because this one is way to easy, both the guys look gay; and let's be honest, nobody really cares much for either of them, there like the forgotten hero's and athletes. So you quys get the principal, I will try to take something sporty and geek it up or to take something geeky and sport it up. So please leave a comment, with some challenges (exemple : spider-man and hockey).

Now warning to all real geeks, I will probly piss you off with my general public knowledge of comic books. Warning to all sporting fans, the poeple with only four fingers are not real, there just comic book caracters, don't be alarmed.

Top 4... 5 is just one to many

No, I sit today infront of my computer screen, and for some reason I feel obligated to write something down on the blog. However, the two big ideas I have for the blog (a behind the scene coverage of the Congrès Mondial Acadien, and a coverage of the Canada Games) I got nothing. And thats when it hit me right in the face, let's do a top5! Hey all the bloggers do it when they run out of ideas and well I guess I am a blogger now, right?
So in honneur of a blog posted by my friend over at Kraft diner & limonade I give you top 4 things that make me happy right now :

Top 4 things that make me happy right now :

4. Voltron defender of the universe

Now why wouldn't Voltron make me happy? He frigant defends the universe!! I am damn thankful for him. That and for some reason latly I have constantly been thinking about how cool Voltron use to be in the eyes of my 6 year old self.

3. Summer time

It has not been the sunniest of summers, but summer is always regardless of weather synonyme to outdoor track season. While I was not able to compete (as I have previously stated) I have been able to follow the results and watch a few meets on the internet so I got my fix. So go sopcast allowing me to connect with sport channels around the world!

2. Tony Horton

It is to be noted, that since I live in a tiny place now, I have had to find a new way to work-out, in comes P90X and Tony Horton! I now spend more time with this quy then I do with my own roommates. After finishing one hour of push-ups and pull-ups with him reminding you how awesome we are because your doing P90X, trust me you would feel good to.

1. My job

I was presenting at a presse conference today, and afterwards I was ask for an interview, thats when it hit me, damn this event is way bigger then I originaly tought that it was, and being part of it all is just amazing. So cheers to the Congrès Mondial Acadien, and more specificly the Grand Rassemblement Jeunesse.

The countdown begins...

11 Days

you can see this count-down the second you walk in my office. It's the first thing I see in the morning, and I am reminded of it everywhere I go in the school we converted into an office building. 11 Days left before the start of the summers biggest event. Despite the nerves that you can see, nobody is stressed out, and nobody is worried that it won't work out. I personally believe the reason nobody is stressed is because of the number of hours of over-time everybody is putting in and they are just left to tired to worry.

All in all, this post is the first of a series I will be doing during the countdown to, and during the event of the Congrès Mondial Acadien.

I am a superhero

No no, I can't fly, nor can I leap over tall buildings, and the propabilities that I start shooting Kay blast out of my hands are even lower. But none the less I believe I deserve to be called a superhero, why you may ask? Well quite frankly because I choose to make a sacrifice for the greater good, and if this quy can be a superhero so can I (he get's his powers from an armor he stole, really?).

No, what I am talking about is my decision to pick up a summer job. O, did I mention it's in the middle of 'we have zero infrastructure land'. Now I don't want to say anything agains't the place because I am starting to get ac accustomed to it, but damn it's small. Just one example of how damn small the place is, I had to go get a hole drilled in my toe (you should of seen the blood squirt out of my toe after). Well the only hospital nearby was over 45min away in some other small community and quess what? No doctors, luckly drilling a whole in a nail only takes a paper clip so the nurse was able to do.

So yes I consider myself a superhero because I moved somewhere with just plan nothing. So just call me 'Sacrifice Man' or ''I'll change my life for a good salary man''. This place did however really changed my life style, going from the city to a rural community, forced me to find new ways to go to the gym and work-out (I thank you Tony Horton and P90X). And made me slow down, going out every night ain't possible anymore, so I have time to sit down and you know what read a book! So I might have left somethings behind (such as a participating in some big meets, like junior nationals or Canada Summer Games) I have gained alot on a personnal level. And because this is becomming way to cheesy for my liken I end the post now.

A blog? What, really?

Yes, yes, I know, I don't even have a facebook account, so why the hell should I have a blog? Well it's something I have been thinking about for quite a long time now, in fact about 5-6 years ago I would write a blog (without being aware that the concept of a blog existed) and I would send it out to over 70 readers from 4 different provinces. So in a certain sense I was very avantgardiste, and it's only natural that I finaly jump on the blog train to instant gratification (yes I know, easy plug of the name).

Now that I think about it I pick an awful name for the blog, because the newsletter I use to send out had a name and I should have just recycled the name. Oh well, I was quite proud of myself for finding the name, because I realise that in my current situation writting this blog will only be for a short period of time, and will most likely be followed by a coupel of months of neglect, thus the name instant gratification, I am not here for the long haul.

But the main reason I created a blog, to be able to post a damn comment! God darn it, I absolutly despise reading a really great post and then I scroll down only to discover that there is no possibility to post as 'anonymouse' or worst no option for me to write my name and leave a message. So to all those blogs out there that close themselves to comments from none bloggers I say shame! (it is to be noted that I say this without being aware of my own comment settings)

Anyway thats all for the first post!
